500,000 London homes can now order 100% full fibre broadband

London, UK – 3rd May 2022 – Community Fibre, London’s fastest 100% full fibre broadband provider can now take orders from 500,000 London homes and 116,000 businesses. As London’s fastest growing full fibre provider, this milestone demonstrates Community Fibre’s commitment to offering 2.2 million homes and businesses its full fibre multi-gigabit capable broadband by the end of 2024. In support of its expansion plans, Community Fibre has secured an additional £100m facility from a syndicate of existing and new banks. The facility was significantly oversubscribed.

Community Fibre will continue to scale quickly through further deployment in existing boroughs as well as reaching new London boroughs. Community Fibre has an extensive network with presence in 29 London boroughs with immediate plans to add Haringey and Havering to the list (see below). It has already connected and is providing free gigabit broadband to 300 community centres across London with many more planned.

Graeme Oxby, CEO of Community Fibre, said: “Bringing the best internet to our community has always been the focus of our business. With over 500k homes now able to connect we are well on our way to reaching our accelerated goal of reaching 2.2 million homes by the end of 2024. As an independent provider competing against larger incumbents, we know our goals are ambitious. However, we have been working hard to ensure that all of London has access to a high quality, high speed, affordable broadband network. We believe that London should have the best possible infrastructure to support its future growth ambitions.”

Community Fibre is working closely with hundreds of London’s landlords to build full fibre connectivity to their properties. Two hundred of the largest landlords have already granted Community Fibre permission to enable over 670,000 properties, with more agreements soon to be announced.

Community Fibre has built its business around the community it serves, which is why the company is ensuring its fibre deployment includes connecting community centres around London with affordable high speed fibre broadband. It regularly supports customers by providing free or very low-cost connections for vulnerable users, support and training for digital inclusion initiatives, as well as the free connections to community centres.

Community Fibre operates a 100% end-to-end full fibre network, the most reliable connectivity available on the market, and has built its network to future-proof broadband for the inevitable increase in data usage in UK homes. It is also the most sustainable as fibre uses less power than traditional old technologies and Community Fibre uses the existing ducts under the roads and pavements wherever possible rather than environmentally unfriendly and disruptive trench digging.

Londoners need more affordable and reliable connectivity to undertake critical activities such as working and studying remotely, running small businesses, applying for jobs, as well as relaxing and streaming high-definition entertainment and gaming content. This 500,000 milestone illustrates strong progress in Community Fibre’s commitment to providing London households with the connectivity they need at an affordable price.
